At least not by Newsweek or Jonathan Richman.

I like art, even if I’m not very knowledgeable about it. My ignorance of art’s history has probably kept me from developing a deeper understanding of the complexities and movements of art. That said, I also foggily remember art majoring friends complaining about the difficulty of their art history courses. So, I appreciate the pieces I like and I swivel my head like a dog at those that don’t move me.

I was very surprised to find a succinct, four-page article in Newsweek that tracked Picasso’s artistic growth in cubism by way of his use of guitars as subjects. The article was based on the MoMA exhibit Picasso Guitars: 1912—1914. I can’t remember another written piece that so quickly and thoroughly rewarding, especially about art. I cut out the pages and stored them away. Rummaging across them during an office cleaning, I thought it would be a nice piece to post for public consumption, as well as giving me a chance to try Gimp 2.8 and XSane (which worked fantastic!).
